Management team
APROP is 100% managed by volunteers, and that includes the Management Team, who is passionate about the continued improvement and development of APROP. The 8-person team meets every month to fulfil its activities and is always on hand to deal with issues as they arise.

Liz Canham
Before retiring to Spain in 2003, Liz was Head of Procurement for a small division of BAE Systems. She lives in Denia with her two cats, Scruffy and Chui. Liz helps to organise a padel group which plays twice weekly in Vergel and belongs to an art group which meets in Rafol. Liz started volunteering at APROP cats in July 2022, became APROP Secretary in 2024 and Operations Director (Cats) in 2025.

Mike Dunkley
Mike's career in the UK was concerned mostly with the creation and management of affordable housing. He retired in 2014 and moved to Spain with wife Sarah who currently volunteers in the Cats section of Aprop. Mike fulfilled the role of Secretary to the U3A in Oliva for 3 years, which prepared him to fill a similar role for APROP and was elected as Secretary in 2025.

Karlijn Durville
Karlijn is from Amsterdam, Netherlands. She moved to Spain in 2022 after spending six years living in Cuba, and she joined APROP shortly after her relocation. Currently, she is part of the housekeeping team, manages the administration for the dogs, in addition to being the Operations Director (Dogs). Although she does not have a dog of her own (yet), she does offer dog-sitting services.

Dave Harrington
Dave grew up in South East London and, prior to retiring in 2021, had a successful career in corporate sales and sales management. He has been a volunteer at APROP since 2022, when he moved permanently from the UK to Orba. He volunteers at the cat shelter, acts as an admin on the cats Facebook page and is a member of the cats adoption team. He joined the Management Team in 2025.

Moira Levy
Moira joined APROP in 2017 because of her love of dogs, starting as a kennel volunteer before becoming involved in adoptions, rehoming and many other areas of the organisation. Her experience across almost every aspect of APROP's work led to being elected as President, where she remains dedicated to improving the lives of abandoned dogs and cats.

Gary Quaife
Gary retired to Spain in 2019 having spent 30 years in the world of Business growth and development through Finance and Executive support. He joined APROP as Treasurer in January 2026, working on developing a platform and a plan to grow the charity in the upcoming years. He spends his time enjoying the Spanish culture, playing padel and golf, whilst travelling and experiencing all that Spain has to offer.

Amber Statkeviciute
Originally from Lithuania, Amber spent half of her life in London before moving to Spain. She works as a wedding planner and volunteers as the Fundraising Manager for APROP. She is passionate about improving the lives of abandoned and rescued animals by building partnerships, organising fundraising initiatives, and engaging our community.

Paul Whitaker
Paul worked in education all over Europe and in the UAE for 30 years before switching to a career in finance. He moved to Spain in 2024 and his love of dogs prompted him to spend some of his spare time volunteering at APROP. He started in housekeeping and subsequently joined the Management Team in 2026. His other hobbies include hiking and swimming.
