Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. However much time you can give, you'll be helping transform the lives of cats and dogs in need.

Cleaning, feeding and care duties for dogs

Support our dogs with their daily routine, from cleaning and feeding to grooming, medication and cuddles. Every shift helps them feel safe, cared for and loved.

Cleaning, feeding and care duties for cats

Help care for our cats by feeding, cleaning, grooming and socialising them. Every shift provides comfort, companionship and the care they need while they wait for loving homes.

Dog walking

Help our dogs stretch their legs, explore the orange groves and build confidence on every walk. It's rewarding, active and one of the most valuable ways you can volunteer.

Fundraising

Help us raise the funds that keep APROP running. From events and campaigns to sponsorships and creative ideas, every effort helps us care for more cats and dogs.

Adoption & foster team

Help cats and dogs find the loving homes they deserve. Support our foster and adoption team by matching animals with the right families and guiding them on their journey home.

Transportation

Help our cats and dogs get where they need to be. From vet appointments to journeys to their forever homes, volunteer drivers play a vital role in every animal's journey.

Our shop & market stall

Join our friendly team at our Pego market bookstall or charity shop. Your time helps raise essential funds to care for animals in need.

Odd jobs and maintenance

Put your practical skills to good use by helping with repairs, maintenance and groundskeeping. Every job, big or small, helps keep our shelter safe, secure and welcoming.

Intensive short-term volunteer stays

Join us in Spain for an intensive volunteer stay of one week or longer and become part of our dedicated shelter team.

Feed, clean and care for our cats and dogs.
Walk dogs, socialise shy animals and support their daily wellbeing.
Help with simple maintenance and keep the shelter running smoothly.
No experience needed—just a love of animals and a willingness to get stuck in.

Book directly with APROP, so more of your contribution goes towards food, veterinary care and improving the shelter.

If you’d like to volunteer with, you’re very welcome! Please visit the shelter during opening hours with valid ID. For your first visit, you’ll need to complete a short registration form—this can be done on-site or pre-filled in advance.
