Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. However much time you can give, you'll be helping transform the lives of cats and dogs in need.

Whether you’re hands-on with the animals or supporting us behind the scenes, there’s a place for you at APROP.

Intensive short-term volunteer stays

Join us in Spain for an intensive volunteer stay of one week or longer and become part of our dedicated shelter team.

  • Feed, clean and care for our cats and dogs.
  • Walk dogs, socialise shy animals and support their daily wellbeing.
  • Help with simple maintenance and keep the shelter running smoothly.
  • No experience needed—just a love of animals and a willingness to get stuck in.

Book directly with APROP, so more of your contribution goes towards food, veterinary care and improving the shelter.

In January 2017 APROP was flooded and we helped by taking in Nelo. Months later, we adopted him. That's how we came into contact with APROP and decided to volunteer. To help dogs who, like Nelo, deserve care, love, dignity, and a new chance at happiness.

Looking after cats’ health is a rewarding job. Although there are difficult and sad moments, the deep bond we form with each cat gives meaning to our daily work. I've been a volunteer at Aprop since 2023. Together with other volunteers, I care for the cats, clean their living areas and litter boxes, administer medication and take care of their daily needs. FAQs

If you’d like to volunteer with, you’re very welcome! Please visit the shelter during opening hours with valid ID. For your first visit, you’ll need to complete a short registration form—this can be done on-site or pre-filled in advance.

No prior experience is required to start volunteering with us. However, we do appreciate if you have some experience with cats or dogs.

Based on your comfort level and experience, including your age, we’ll match you with dogs that are appropriate for you.

Our team will provide all the guidance you need to get started safely and confidently.
