Is Edgar Right for You?

Edgar is the kind of dog who breaks your heart quietly.

He arrived at our shelter with two other dogs, Nicole and Simón, after all three were simply left in our outside kennel — their bodies covered in ticks.

But while Nicole and Simón have been able to begin moving forward, Edgar has not been so lucky.

He is an old boy, and his body is showing the terrible cost of the life he has lived. The scars aren’t only physical. You can see the sadness in his eyes — the look of a dog who has known discomfort for far too long and has never understood why.

When Edgar arrived, we discovered that he was suffering from several serious health problems.

He has entropion, a painful condition where the eyelids turn inward and the eyelashes constantly rub against the eye. One eye has already suffered significant damage. We are desperately hoping that surgery will preserve some sight in his other eye.

He also has a problem with his testicles which may be connected to his prostate and needs further treatment.

And then came another blow: Edgar tested positive for Ehrlichia.

Before we can begin his other procedures, this infection must be treated. His operations are booked, and we are crossing everything that they go well.

But right now, Edgar needs something we cannot give him inside a kennel.

He needs a home.

A quiet place.
A soft bed.
A peaceful corner where he can sleep without fear.
Someone who will sit beside him and let him know that, finally, he is safe.

Are You Right for Edgar?

Edgar doesn’t need someone to give him an exciting new life.

He needs someone willing to give him a gentle one.

A foster home could completely change his recovery. Instead of facing his treatment and operations surrounded by the stress of shelter life, Edgar could heal somewhere warm and quiet, with someone keeping a loving eye on him.

He may be old. He may be fragile. He may need medical care and patience.

But he is still here.

And that means there is still time to show him that life can be kind.

If you can foster Edgar, please consider opening your home to him. You don’t need to give him forever — you could simply give him the safe place he needs while he heals.

If you cannot foster, please help in another way.

A donation, no matter how small, can help us pay for the treatment and surgeries he desperately needs.

And if you cannot donate, sharing Edgar’s story costs nothing — but it might put it in front of the person who can change everything for him.

Because after a lifetime of pain, Edgar shouldn’t have to spend his final years wondering if anyone cares.

He deserves to know comfort.

He deserves to close his eyes without pain.
He deserves a warm bed beneath him.
He deserves gentle hands.
He deserves to feel safe.

And more than anything, this dear old boy deserves to discover that someone, somewhere, finally chose him.

Please don’t let Edgar’s story end here.

Give him a place to heal.
Help us give him relief.
Help us show him that his life still matters.
